Soundpeats QY7s – A pair of very affordable bluetooth earbuds which sound great!

DISCLAIMER: We (the author and/or DDSHD) have no financial relationship with this company (Soundpeats). This product was bought at full price for personal use and/or the review. We are only paid by Amazon for referring you this product (only if you use our affiliate link) and that payment has no effect on what we think about this product.

There are many wireless earbuds on the market to choose from but, most of them cost up wards of $200 so I tested these the QY7’s from the Soundpeats. The earbuds are only $20 on amazon and sound just as good as the more expensive ones…

There are many versions of these earbuds sold from difference companies however from the very little research I did… Soundpeats sounds like the original manufacturer who less these in bulk to other companies who put their own logo on and resell them for a premium. The hardware is the same it’s just the logo that’s different.

INFILTRATE THE DEALERS, FIND THE SUPPLIER

The earbuds have unique wing shape build with high quality, glossy plastic. The right earbud handles all the controlling with the power button, volume rocker and very tiny and muffled microphone. These buttons can perform multiple actions and the full list if provided in the manual, which we have also embed below:

The body of the earbuds can take quite a beating without any problems and also works well with a bit of moisture (Sweat or Rain) but, it definitely won’t stand up to a quick swim in the pool or a quick shower.

The left earbud on the other hand only contains the battery and the micro-usb port for charging.

CORNERS HAD TO CUT

The battery life is below average at about 5 hours. Less than the high priced earbuds but, the corners had to be somewhere for the $20 price tag. The charging time take about 2 hours with a standard iPhone charger and I wouldn’t recommend using anything with a higher amperage just to be safe.

The earbuds are connected to each other with a flat rubber cable which is also tangle-free. However, if you were to the tuck the cable under your clothing or anything that restrains it from it floating around freely, every small movement you make WILL be heard and it’s very distracting. If you leave the cable free to roam out it is not a problem at all.

The most important part of a headphone review is sound quality and somehow Soundpeats has nailed it for only $20. Since these are in-ear earbuds they are naturally very good to blocking out sound but, this is exceptionally good! I cannot hear anything in the outside even with the volume just at 50%.

These can be picked up for only $20 or less at Amazon using our affiliated link here. (Helps us run the company without any cost to you, we promise). There are also tons of colors available.

The iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus are here!

Just a few hours ago, Apple announced it’s new generation of iPhones; the 6S and the 6S Plus. The new phones have seem to have brought some very interesting features to the table.

3D Touch

The new iPhone were exactly what they were rumored to be. The new iPhone have “3D Touch” – a fancy name for force touch. 3D Touch on the new iPhones is a combination between the right click menu and the preview feature on the Mac.

For Example: You can force tap on an iMessage Conversation and a preview of the conversation will pop up. You can also interact more with the action by pressing harder on the screen.

Developers can also integrate 3D Touch into their own apps, One of the apps that has already been updated is Instagram. In Instagram you can 3D Touch on the thumbnail of an image and a preview of the image will pop-up!

Camera

Photos

The Camera on the new iPhones have a extremely improved! For the past year Apple has stuck with an 8 MP camera while other manufacturers have had 12-16 MP cameras. Apple has been backing off on adding more megapixels because if you put more pixels in the same senor size the color accuracy, low light performance tend to be quite poor. Apple has found a few ways with help with the problem. This year they have gone with a 12 MP camera and if the color accuracy and the low light performance are as good or better then the current phones then this will easily be the best camera on a smartphone.

The front selfie camera have also been upgrade with a 5 MP senor. This time you also have a “simulated” flash with will use the sensors on the phone to match the light temperature around you to flash the the screen itself for a “ok” lit selfie.

Live Photos

Live Photos is features that takes a sequence of photos with audio (not video, apparently) 1.5 second before and after the photos has been taken. So when you 3D Touch on the photo in the gallery I will play the sequence showing the moment that led upto the picture. You can set these “Live Photos” as your wallpaper or as a watch face on your Apple Watch.

Video

Since Apple decide to upgrade to a 12 MP camera. You will be able to take 4K Video at 30 fps on the phone. Since 4K videos take so much space, you will be able to choose what quality you record your video at in the settings.

Technology

Processor

The new iPhone have the Apple A9; Which is Apple’s own 3rd Generation 64-bit processor. The new A9 CPU is up to 80% faster then the A8’s CPU. The GPU on the A9 is up to 90% faster. Apple is claiming the CPU power to be “Desktop class” and the GPU to be “Console class”.

Data Connection

The Wifi and LTE performance has been improved just a little bit; The new phones support up to 23 LTE bands with a maximum of 300 Mbps through-put. Wifi hasn’t been changed a lot with speeds up to 866 Mbps. Of cource your’re not going to get these speeds just because you have the phone. These speeds are the maximum throughput for the phones.

Price

You will be able to buy the new phones at the same price as the current ones so; 16GB models for the 6S start at $199 w/ 2-year carrier contact and $299 for the 6S Plus w/ a 2-carrier contact.

If you don’t want to lock-in with a contact with your carrier then you can finnance the phones with Apple for $32.45 /month for iPhone 6S (24-month) and/or $37.45 for the iPhone 6S Plus (24-month).

Apple also has a new program this year called “iPhone Upgrade Program” which will give you a new phone every year! You can learn more about it here!

12.9″ inch iPad! The iPad Pro!

Just a few hours ago; Apple announced it’s new iPad; the iPad Pro!

Features

Size

As you may have already seen by now the new iPad Pro has a huge 12.9 Inch – 2732-by-2048 beautiful retina display! Because of the larger space you have a lot more room to add additional features. Like Four Speakers on every corners of the iPad for amazing sound. These speakers will automatically adjust the sound frequency and volume based on what you’re listening to and how you’re holding the iPad; for the best sound performance.

Accessories

For the first time Apple has first-party accessories for the new iPad Pro. The first one is the new Smart Keyboard and the second one is the new Apple Pencil.

This web comic “Surface Tension” made by Joel Watson, 3 years ago predicted how Apple would have their own Surface Tablet in “WWDC 2015” just 6-months off the actual release.

surface-tention-web-comic

Smart Keyboard

The Smart Keyboard, which looks a lot like Microsoft’s smart cover for the Surface. The Smart Keyboard is basically just the regular smart case for the iPad with a keyboard. The keyboard connects to the iPad via magnetic pins on the side of the iPad Pro; This port will provide both power and data.

Apple Pencil

The Apple is just the regular stylus. It works with the digitizer on the iPad to detect pressure, tilt and of-course movement. The wired part about the Apple Pencil is that you have to charge it by plugging in the male lightning plug into the lightning port on the iPad Pro.

This is a weird way of charging the Pencil as it looks silly and is dangerous since there is high risk of it breaking. The Apple can run for 30 minutes with a 15 second charge.

Apple 2007 iPhone conference where Steve Jobs said how he hates a stylus.

Performance

The performance on the new iPad Pro is (according to Apple) faster then 80% (CPU) and 90% (CPU) of portable PCs launched in the last year. The iPad Pro runs off Apple’s own 3rd Generation 64-bit; A9X Processor. Apple has demoed the iPad Pro realtime rendering 3 4K streams at the same time.

Battery Life

Even with the improved performance and larger screen size; Apple claims the iPad pro can still get “full-day” or 10-hours of battery life.

Update Firefox now! You are risking your data!

Stop whatever you’re doing right NOW and update you browser (If your using Firefox that is..)

A bug in Firefox allows it to an ad on an unnamed Russian news site to search and upload files your computer to a server in Ukraine without leaving a trace on your computer. Windows and Linux users are effected by this but, it is also a good idea to Mac users to update to the latest version of Firefox 39.0.3 or Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) 38.1.1.

“The vulnerability comes from the interaction of the mechanism that enforces JavaScript context separation (the “same origin policy”) and Firefox’s PDF Viewer,” Veditz wrote. “Mozilla products that don’t contain the PDF Viewer, such as Firefox for Android, are not vulnerable.”

He also said users who are using adblockers are unaffected but should also update.

If you don’t know how to update then you can find the instructions here.

A Tesla can be hacked but, It’s not a big of an issue..

The “White Hat” hacker team was able to hack a Tesla Model S but, not in the way they were able to hack the Jeep.

In the Jeep hack the hackers were able to do things that could do serious damage like:

Disable Brakes
Apply Trottle
Steer
etc..

All of that just using the cellular connection far-far away.

While in the Tesla hack the hackers had to be connected to the car via an Ethernet cable and were only able to do “minor” things like:

Shut the car down including the electronic system and apply handbrakes ONLY if the car was driving under 5 Mph.

Other non-speed based things they were able to do were:
Lock/Unlock the car
“Roll” up/down the windows
and Change the speed shown on the Speedometer

This is a MUCH minor hack then the Jeeps but, it shows that it can be done. Tesla already has a program if a person reports the vulnerability to Tesla they will be awarded big money!

An fix for the vulnerabillity has already been send out with a OTA (Over-the-air update). This can be applied with just a Wi-Fi connection on your Tesla car!

There are two models of the new Moto G. The XT1540 version which is the one you get if you buy it from a GSM carrier or from the Motorola website. The XT1540 version only supports GSM carriers but, the XT1548 model can support both CDMA and GSM carriers. This model of the phone is only sold through Sprint Prepaid, US Cellular and Virgin Mobile. As far as the LTE network go – The Moto G will support Tri-Band LTE for most of the giant US Carriers.

The Moto G 2015 is the way to go if you are in the market for a budget smartphone with it’s average specs to a very clean UI. It’s only $179 for the 8GB (1GB RAM) and $216 for the 16GB (2GB RAM) version.

Reserve Windows 10 ahead for priority and faster update!

If you have Windows 8, 8.1 installed in your computer then you will see a windows icon in your taskbar near the time and date area.

GETWIN10-FEATIMG

Once you get it just click on it and it will have this pop-up window:

Get Windows 10 1

Once you click next it will ask you to enter an email and after clicking next you have reserved Windows 10 for yourself!

Get Windows 10 2

By doing this it will “guarantee” that you can get the update with a priority when the servers are being hammerd during the initial release. This way you can be one of the first people to get Windows 10!

TP-Link TL4010 Powerline Kit – Unboxing and Review

If you search Amazon.com for a powerline KIT then the TP-Link TL4010 will be one of the first listings. The TP-Link is a powerline kit with a lot going on but, for a not-steep price.

If you buy the kit then you get both the adapters, a pair of CAT-5 cable and all the documentation. The adapters have a glossy finish with that surprising does a good job at not attracting fingerprints but, does attract dust pretty quickly. Both of the adapter also have three leds – First (Power), Second (If an device is connected to the other end) Third (Blinks if data goes through). It’s actually surprising that you get a CAT-5 cable at this point it’s really rare to find a CAT-5 cable and I would recommend changing that out with CAT-5e so you get the best performance as possible. The setup preocess for the kit was really easy – if just pluged one end into the wall outlet (without a powerstrip or a extender) connected the ethernet cables and the same or the other end. They found each other on it’s network instantly without even pressing the pair button. At a glance the spec sheet does not look that great with only a 10/100 ethernet port but, in actual use with the client also using a 10/100 ethernet – It was able to reach 93 Mbps on my 120 Mbps connection. The transfer speeds which they advertise to be 500mbps but, I also somehow only 115 mbps within the network. There were not bottlenecks in our testing for this test. Everything in the test was gigabit except for the adapter. One of the reason that you shouldn’t take as a granted what the product as says is true. Even though they might say that it can reach 500 Mbps you always have to look at what the ethernet port is certified at. Your maximum internet speed will not be anything more then that certification. A good way to find this is too look at what the ethernet port certification says – The last number in that spec is the max speed. Often written as:  10/100/1000/10000… (Ex. 10/100 in this adapter mean 100 max speed). Both the adapters are the exact same things so it doesn’t matter which on you use as the “sender” or the “receiver”. If you want to add more adapters then just buy the adapter twice or buy only one of them. Any adapters that you add to the whole mesh network will be used as hubs so the speeds will be shared between them.

This powerline kit is perfect for not having to go through the walls – you can just use the existing house electrical wiring as an ethernet cable. This works great for connecting PCs wired to the network or extending you WiFi coverage buy putting a router at the “receiver” end instead of a PC.
